Lou Malnati’s Pizza

I may sound trite but it really is an incomplete visit to Chicago without trying one of Lou Malnati’s pies. The buttery crust, the thick sausage, the gooey cheese…yeah baby! B and I went there last Monday before going to Target to buy a sewing machine (B is really good at fixing trouser legs so I have no qualms about buying jeans or pants that are a tad long). LM is way downtown while Target is up north near our place, plus it was raining heavily, but did that stop us?!

Once inside the pizzeria, we sat down, waited for about half an hour – because apparently, that’s how longĀ it takes to make a delicious, deep dish, meat-filled pizza from scratch. When the pie arrived, it was just the right temperature so we dug in! We ordered a medium-sized pie with the butter crust and 2 sodas. (Take note, I normally order a family size when I’m back in Manila. Still, we had a big slice left!) Price was reasonable, the place was cozy, and the waiters were helpful. My only criticism, is there is no hot sauce available. Apparently, people here don’t eat pizza with hot sauce. Parmesan cheese and chili flakes are available though, so bahala ka na mag-budbod.

Anyways, we plan to come back, and damn if I don’t bring a bottle of Tabasco in my bag!
